Summer Reading Challenge 2013

This year's Summer Reading Challenge for 4 - 12 year olds is called 'Creepy House' and we can't wait to start handing out the 300 goodie bags we have prepared for our launch this Saturday 13th July 2013 from 9.15am.

This will be the 8th reading challenge that the library has held and we hope it'll be the best yet!

As in previous years the aim of the challenge is to read 6 library books over the summer holidays with prizes being given after the 2nd, 4th and 6th books have been returned. All the children who complete the challenge will be invited to a presentation ceremony where they will be given a medal and certificate by the Mayor of Douglas.

Scottish Widows are, once again, our sponsors and they are providing the fabulous prizes for our Creepy House quiz and competition and the book tokens for the best book reviews we receive.

There will also be weekly workshops with a creepy theme for you to enjoy. These are open to participants of the reading challenge only and attendance is strictly ticket only. Tickets cost £1.00 per child and all the details of the workshops are in the goodie bags.

The Summer Reading Challenge is once again an accredited programme which means that all IOM Children's University 'Passport to Learning' holders are entitled to have a library stamp in their passport for every book that they read for the challenge and for each event that they attend.

To ensure that you don't miss out come along to the library this Saturday to guarantee your involvement in this year's challenge!
