Karl Garrett with the Poet-Tree

Karl Garrett was born in Peel in December 1961 and is an accomplished artist and sculptor. He was the winner of The Norman Sayle Prize for Art, 2010 which is competition run by the Archibald Knox Society and is sponsored by the Isle of Man Post Office.

Mr Garrett says, ‘Poet-Tree is one of the sculptural pieces from my end of year exhibition for my BA Fine Art Degree which I am studying at the Isle of Man College. All my work over the past 12 months has been about “poetry and place”: instead of traditional paper, I have been writing my poetry on different objects – on mirrors, large canvases, road signs, garden benches...and this tree trunk.’ The Poet-Tree is 6ft tall and made from ash wood.

We would love for you to come and see it for yourself and leave some feedback.
